 I'm a kiwi, comparing NZ and the UK as islands is a wee bit disingenuous. In NZ we're over 4000 2000 km from our closest neighbour and 12,000 km+ away from epicentres like the US and Europe. You can drive under the sea that separates Britain and France. It's a bit different. That being said, I agree with the underlying point, that it isn't necessary to be an island and beat off covid. It probably helps, I reckon, but there are other examples like Vietnam who have done exceptionally well with multiple land borders and rather high population density.

  No centrists are leaving the US because of far right politics. Progressives are leaving the US - not sure why anyone on the left here is considered conservative/centrist in any other majority progressive country. We are stuck in a framework in which our representatives are more centrist in comparison to Canada but the constituents who are fleeing the country are pretty much guaranteed to be progressive if not more progressive considering the current political climate.  Hey guys, outsider looking in here. As i understand this is catastrophic for most of u guys and i see so many comments that biden should "pack the courts" if he wins. I wonder, wouldnt that set off a domino effect meaning that ones theres a republican president he can just add more seats and so on? Is there any chance to remove seats in that case? I understand the worry of what a rep. Majority supreme court would mean but isnt "packing the court" introducing instability in the american legal system? Because its widely known that the american political system is a see-saw between the 2 parties, biden might win this year, but in 4-8 years you guys will have president Mcconnel, president Cruz or president Pence, and they will just flip the script again.
