  When I was around 10/12 years old I was in a tropical themed water park where also happened to be a herbal bath. It smelled very nice, which I had not expected. Most of the tropical plants were fake plastic plants, so I figured the water in the bath was normal swming pool water and the smell was coming from something else. The bath was surrounded with a small aromatic herb garden which didn't look fake. I sneakily took a sample from a thyme plant that felt surprisingly real. But because the air was filled with all the different aromas and a hint of chlorine I couldn't smell anything different when I tried to smell the thyme.   Oh, I thought my dad couldn't read for too long.. He never read me bedtime stories, always tired from working all day.   Man this thread reminds me so much of my dad. He was also in the service and was missing a pinky. He told me several stories of how he lost it.   About 35-40%, apparently they use the rifle to show how a catastrophic failure can happen. The firing pin got jammed, so when he went to bring the bolt forward the pin hit the cap and went off. That explains it. Bolt actions are normally really strong, I was wondering what happened that led to that kind of injury. If the bolt wasn't locked in place it probably shot back through his hand. He had shrapnel hit all over his face and some tiny metal flakes still in his eyes. So his vision isnt great but he can see...I would never have noticed the face scars if he hadn't pointed some out.   My dad told me this story about how he was training with a bolt action rifle in the airforce. Long story short-the gun exploded, his hand was crushed and ripped apart at the same time, some bones were turned to powder, and he had to have emergency surgery to save his hand. He told me they gave him the option of getting an attachment for a gun or sword but he turned them down because he liked to work with his hands. All true...except the attachment...like six years later I play final fantasy 7 and learn about barrett's arm, irony isnt exactly the right word, but its damn close.   When we played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon my little sister used to accept the lamest missions and not get good rewards. I told her about it and she responded with. I read something that there was a Pokémon in an older game that was endangered according to the lore.   I was 12 when they asked me, as they did each year at Thanksgiving, which kind of meat I wanted.   Final thoughts on the debate: Biden did okay, I thought he could have done better and he had some stuttering/gaffe moments but finished really good. He might have flipped a few votes but didn’t lose any from it and at the end of the day I’m not voting for Biden because of his speaking or debate skills, I’m voting for him because he doesn’t support groups labeled by the FBI as domestic terrorist and is a good decent man who actually cares about our country. I think Biden will do much better in 2 weeks though since he will be more settled in and know what to expect.   Given the context of this presidency and presidential debates in general, is anyone else genuinely impressed with how Wallace did? He pushed back way harder against Trump than I would have ever expected, and while I wish he'd been able to cut microphones, I came away really pleased. I don't know how a moderator could have been stronger without coming off as egregiously biased (fairly or not). I was hoping to see the debates be a moment where we can go from "clear but not overwhelming win" to "blue Texas".   Plus, the main adjectives the viewers are using to describe the debate in rapid polling is some variant of “annoying”, “frustrating”, and “pointless”. I think that means the viewership of later debates will be low, if not abysmally low, which closes the gap the Trump has to make up ground even more. I usually don't comment on political subreddits but man that was just atrocious. Trump straight up refused to condemn white supremacists and instead told them to "stand by." That's just so... Utterly idiotic and evil to me.   Trump acted like such a schoolyard bully that it's hard for anyone to come out of that experience looking great, especially since this is politics. When someone starts flinging mud, it gets everywhere, it dirties the entire process, even when you try to act with dignity (like Biden did). This debate was embarrassing for America, but that fault lies on Trump. To think electorally, I think this debate was great for Biden. He has the clear lead in the polls, and Trump is desperate for a realignment of undecided voters. That’s not happening. I don’t see any movement in support as a result of tonight.
