Whenever there's noise about importing American dairy people here go insane, it's just incredibly unpopular. Trump even tried to pressure Trudeau into taking it and the backlash here was intense. There are taxes and tariffs and all the rest of it because nobody at all wants it here but you guys very badly want us to buy it. We tax it to discourage Canadians from buying foreign milk that is both lower quality and also would financially harm our own dairies.
