 America wasn't a "powerhouse because of unions." America was a powerhouse because it was the only industrial power left with intact cities after WW2. The US had a competitive advantage against the whole world. When other countries got back on their feet (like Japan in the 70s/80s when unions were still strong,) that advantage disappears over seas because other countries can do it better/cheaper. Now it isnt just a few countries, a LOT of countries are industrializing, and specializing and just prices out the US in a lot of industries. It doesn't matter how strong or weak the unions are, those industries arent coming back unless they're heavily subsidized by the government.

 Hey guys, outsider looking in here. As i understand this is catastrophic for most of u guys and i see so many comments that biden should "pack the courts" if he wins. I wonder, wouldnt that set off a domino effect meaning that ones theres a republican president he can just add more seats and so on? Is there any chance to remove seats in that case? I understand the worry of what a rep. Majority supreme court would mean but isnt "packing the court" introducing instability in the american legal system? Because its widely known that the american political system is a see-saw between the 2 parties, biden might win this year, but in 4-8 years you guys will have president Mcconnel, president Cruz or president Pence, and they will just flip the script again.
